The body as tool for experiencing spatial dimensions. By putting himself in relationship to space and architecture, the body is not only measuring the space around him, but gives it a meaning. By literally filling up spaces that are left free in the designed space (architecture), building body sculptures, not only dimensions become visible, but also makes clear and points out how bodies stand against architecture and how they can change the perspective on it.
The experimental short film "body trail" by Willi Dorner and Michael Palm is based on the outdoor performance 'bodies in urban spaces', that had its' world premiere at the Festival Paris Quartier d’été in 2007. The film itself was recorded at the performances in Vienna, October 11-13, 2007.

Bodies in urban spaces is a moving BODY TRAIL, choreographed for a group of dancers, is an temporarily intervention in diversified urban architectonical environment.
The intention of 'bodies in urban spaces' is to point out the urban functional structure and to uncover the restricted movement possibilities and behaviour as well as rules and limitations. By placing the bodies in selected spots the interventions provoke a thinking process and produce irritation. Passers by, residents and audience are motivated and prompted to reflect their urban surrounding and there own movement behaviour and habits. 'Bodies in urban spaces' invites the residents to walk their own city thus establishing a stronger relationship to their neighbourhood, district and town. The interventions are temporarily without leaving any traces behind, but imprints in the eye-witnesses memory.
